The Department of Geology, University of Tromso, Norway invites
applications for a four-year PhD research fellowship in marine geology
(palaeoceanography).

The successful candidate will work on the project "Arctic natural
climate and environmental changes, and their consequences for human
adaptation strategies: From science to public awareness." This IPY
project involves a research team with members from archaeology, geology,
and climate research departments of different institutions. The
candidate will study sediment cores from the Nordic Seas (north of 70N)
and the continental margin around Svalbard.

Applicants must have relevant, Masters-level qualifications in marine
geology and palaeoceanography. Knowledge of microfossils (foraminifera),
stable isotopes, and marine sediments is preferable.
