The Alaska Earthquake Information Center is seeking a Tsunami Numerical
Modeler for the Alaska Tsunami Inundation Mapping Project to develop and
apply hydrodynamic numerical models of tsunami wave generation,
propagation, and runup. The goal of the project is to map potential
inundation of Alaska coastal communities, providing local emergency
officials with site-specific tsunami hazard assessment.

Candidates must have at least a Masters degree (PhD preferred) in
oceanography, another Earth or physical science, mathematics, or
engineering, as well as strong knowledge of ocean dynamics and numerical
modeling techniques, and experience with computational fluid dynamics,
preferably in tsunami numerical modeling.

The successful candidate will be placed at a level appropriate for their
education and experience. This position is part of a career development
plan that will provide an avenue for increasing the position's scope,
complexity, and degree of independence as the incumbent's experience and
skills increase.

The application review process has begun and will continue until the
position is filled. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is an Equal
Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Full job description and
