The Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies invites
papers for "Melting Boundaries: Carrying Out Effective Research in the
Circumpolar World," the 8th International Student Conference on Northern
Studies, being held on 19-21 October 2007, at the University of
Saskatchewan in Canada.

The triennial conference includes student participants from the
countries of the circumpolar North and is held in order to showcase
student research that has a northern scope, especially interdisciplinary
research. The conference provides students with effective ways to
facilitate and communicate research objectives between the scientific
community and northern residents.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations are welcome for the
following topics:
- alternative energy;
- aquatic research;
- climate change and meteorology;
- cultural reclamation and protection;
- economics;
- environmental contaminants;
- ethics and research in the north;
- individual, community and population health;
- public policy;
- research partnerships and collaborations;
- traditional indigenous knowledge and language;
- glaciology;
- flora, fauna, and avian research;
- intellectual property rights;
- land claims; and
- social justice.

Abstracts should be between 200 and 400 words, include the names and
contact information of the author(s), and be submitted by Thursday, 15
February 2007, at:

Authors will be notified of selection results by 30 April 2007.
