The Great Alaska Weather Modeling Symposium will be held at the
University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) on 13-15 March 2007. The symposium
provides a forum for the exchange of research results and discussion of
problems and new developments in weather modeling activities related to
the Alaska environment. Participation from academic, research,
government, and private sectors is encouraged.

Primary areas of focus for the symposium include:
- Routine weather forecasting;
- Aircraft icing;
- Air pollution prediction, including keynote address by Georg A. Grell;
- Polar Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) models, including keynote
address by David Bromwich; and
- Coupling of WRF with other models, including keynote address by John
Michalakes.

Abstracts for papers to be presented at the symposium are invited in
these areas and all fields related to weather modeling in Alaska.
Abstracts should be one paragraph in length and submitted before
Tuesday, 9 January 2007, via the symposium website:

Registration is open on the symposium website until Tuesday, 27 February
2007. There is no registration fee.

The symposium is sponsored by NOAA National Weather Service, Alaska
Region; and the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, College of Natural
Science and Mathematics, Geophysical Institute, and International Arctic
Research Center at UAF.
