The Zackenberg Research Station, an ecosystem research and monitoring
facility located in northeast Greenland, is calling for letters of
intent from potential users to determine whether to remain open during
the winter season of 2007-2008.

The Danish Polar Center (DPC), which owns and operates Zackenberg
Research Station, is considering keeping the station open during this
period for IPY research. DPC approval for winter operations is
contingent upon sufficient numbers of scientists who intend to use the
station for winter research projects.

Scientists interested in utilizing Zackenberg Research Station during
the 2007-2008 winter season are requested to submit a letter of intent
that includes a project description, schedule of anticipated dates of
use and number of researchers, and curriculum vitae for all project
personnel. Letters should be submitted no later than Friday, 15 December
2006, via e-mail to Morten Rasch (mr [at] dpc.dk) or regular mail to:

Danish Polar Center
Strandgade 102
DK-1401
Copenhagen
Denmark

The DPC will decide by Friday, 26 January 2007, whether to keep
Zackenberg Research Station open for the 2007-2008 winter season and, if
so, which projects will be approved for that period. Scientists with
approved projects will be invited to a planning workshop on station
logistics and costs of services.
