The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) and the Arctic Region
Supercomputing Center (ARSC) seek two postdoctoral scientists to be part
of an arctic system modeling team. Individuals are sought with
experience in regional climate modeling, including the procedures for
coupling models of different system components (atmosphere, ocean, sea
ice, land surface, hydrology) and implementation of regional models in
parallel computing environments on ARSC supercomputing systems.

These positions will require experience in high performance computing
(HPC), the use of pre-existing component models, and effective
communication with the providers of those component models and software
support specialists of ARSC. Familiarity with processes pertaining to at
least one component of the arctic system is desirable. This will be a
terrific introduction to the research environment. The successful
applicants will work with leading-edge researchers in IARC who are
investigating the interdependence of arctic atmospheric, oceanic, and
terrestrial processes. A fully coupled regional model of the arctic
climate system is being built and these postdoctoral research associates
will work directly with coupling component models. The positions will
provide research and publication opportunities through experiments with
the arctic system model in collaboration with IARC scientists and
international partners.

The successful applicants are expected to cooperate with national and
international partners, participate in planning meetings and
international conferences, and publish research results in appropriate
journals.
