The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMarEST)
announces the Arctic Workshop and Film Evening on Tuesday, 31 October
2006, in London, UK.

The workshop will include a plenary session featuring presentations on
arctic science, public policy, industrial opportunities and challenges,
defense operations, and the outlook for marine shipping. Seminars based
on these themes will then convene where participants identify sectoral
priorities and information needs regarding management and regulation of
the arctic regions. Specific seminar topics include fisheries, oil and
gas exploration and production, shipping and ports, insurance, defense,
tourism, and environmental protection.

The workshop will be held at the City Conference Centre, 80 Coleman
Street, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a reception and film
screening featuring short films about the Arctic. Both events are free
and open to the public, though attendees are requested to register in
advance.

The workshop is organized and sponsored by IMarEST, Inter-Agency
Committee for Marine Science and Technology, Marine Information
Alliance, National Centre for Ocean Forecasting, Met Office, BP, and
Scottish Association for Marine Science.
