The Environmental Radiochemistry Laboratory at the Freshwater Institute
(FWI), Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Winnipeg, Canada, has moved
to the University of Manitoba (U of M) Department of Soil Science (also
in Winnipeg). It is now part of the Landscape Dynamics Laboratory under
the supervision of Dr. David Lobb (U of M) and Dr. Gary Stern (FWI). The
laboratory and personnel have been part of the Arctic Contaminants
section at the FWI and have 20 years of experience in sediment core
dating and sediment core sampling.

The new lab will continue to accept marine and freshwater sediment cores
from external clients for dating using Pb-210 and Cs-137. The new
combined lab has 7 gamma spectrometers and 16 alpha spectrometers and
can also provide analytical services for a wide range of gamma emitting
and U and Th series isotopes.
