An International Lithosphere Program Sedimentary Basins Taskforce
workshop, entitled "The History of Convergent and Passive Margins in the
Polar Realm: Sedimentary and Tectonic Processes, Transitions and
Resources", will be held in Quebec City, Canada, on 18-22 September
2006.

This workshop will address the processes and resources of sedimentary
basins, anticipating geoscience components of the International Polar
Year and providing an opportunity for diverse discussions related to the
formation and destruction of sedimentary basins as exemplified by the
tectonic elements and history of the current polar margins. In addition
to technical session presentations, the workshop will include panel
discussions that identify outstanding research problems and new
opportunities for collaborations.

The workshop conveners are Universite Laval, l'Institut national de la
recherche scientifique (INRS), and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
