A seminar on "Multilateral Environmental Agreements and Their Relevance
to the Arctic" will be held in Arendal, Norway, on 21-22 September 2006.

Representatives of the following Multilateral Environmental Agreements
have confirmed their participation in the seminar:
- Ramsar Convention on Wetlands
- Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of
Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal
- Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer
- Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Fauna and
Flora (CMS)
- United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
- UNESCO World Heritage Convention
- The UNEP Regional Seas Programme
- Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine
Environment from Land Based Activities (GPA)
- Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna
and Flora

The Norwegian Senior Arctic Official to the Arctic Council, Mr. Karsten
Klepsvik, has confirmed his participation. In addition there will be
high-level representation from relevant indigenous peoples'
organizations, NGOs, and the private sector.
