The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council is soliciting nominations for
the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) to serve a 24-month term from
October 2006 to October 2008. Current members of the PAC are eligible
for re-nomination and reappointment. The current PAC members' term ends
October 2006. The PAC consists of fifteen members to reflect a balanced
representation from each of the following principal interests:
aquaculturist/mariculturist, commercial fisher, commercial tourism
business person, public-at-large, conservationist/environmentalist,
tribal government, local government, native landowner, recreation user,
sport hunter/fisher, subsistence user, scientist/technologist, regional
monitoring program operator, and marine transportation operator.
The PAC advises the Trustee Council on all decisions relating to injury
assessment restoration activities or other uses of natural resource
damage recoveries from the settlement of the Exxon Valdez oil spill,
including: planning, evaluation, and allocation of available funds;
planning, evaluation, and conduct of injury assessments; planning,
evaluation, and conduct of restoration activities; planning, evaluation,
and conduct of long-term monitoring and research activities; and
coordination of the above items.
All Public Advisory Committee members are selected by unanimous consent
by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council and appointed by the
Secretary of the Interior.
Nominations for membership may be submitted by any source. Nominations
are due in the Trustee Council Office by Friday, 4 August 2006.
