The Science Teacher Education Program (STEP) is still accepting
registrations for the 2006 Summer Institute at the Geophysical Institute
in Fairbanks, Alaska. There are two sessions available: Session I from
24 July to 4 August 2006 and Session II from 31 July to 11 August 2006.

The 2006 Summer Institute seeks to provide teachers the opportunity to
learn more about space physics and to learn the skills necessary to
incorporate space physics into K-12 curriculum.

The program is an Alaska Department of Education Grant awarded to the
Geophysical Institute in partnership with the Alaska Science Consortium.
This summer teachers will have the opportunity to earn 6 professional
development or geophysics credits during the two-week long Institute.
Tuition for the 6 credits will be paid by the grant.

STEP will also be offering follow-up courses through the 06-07 academic
year with registration preference given to 2006 Summer Institute
participants.
