Registration is open for brown bear conservation and education field
workshops in the Chenik drainage in McNeil State Game Refuge on the west
side of Cook Inlet, Alaska. The trips, which last five days, depart from
Homer, Alaska on July 2, 6, and 10 for tent camping and
bear-viewing during the salmon run with experienced guide Derek
Stonorov. The cost of $1700 includes air taxi, guide fees, food, and a
tax-deductible donation to the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies.
The workshop may be taken as a one-credit professional development
course for teachers through the University of Alaska Anchorage-Kenai
Peninsula College (additional $55 credit fee).
