The "Poles Together" Outreach and Education Workshop for IPY was held in
Boulder, Colorado in July of 2005. A website summarizing the workshop is
now available online at:

The workshop was hosted by NOAA and the Cooperative Institute for
Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado at
Boulder. There were over 100 participants from federal agencies,
international organizations, including the International Antarctic
Institute in Hobart, Australia and the International Polar Foundation
based in Brussels, and members of the Swedish, Canadian, Dutch, and
German national IPY committees. Other participants represented
universities such as Columbia University, the University of Alaska
Fairbanks, the University of Colorado, the University of the Arctic,
Ohio State University, and the University of California at Merced.
Attendees also included professionals in marketing, science education,
and the travel industry.
An evaluation, supported by NOAA and NSF, of the goals and objectives of
the workshop's interdisciplinary focus and broad goals, may be of
particular interest to members of the science and education community
interested in a detailed look at the workshop and its outcomes.
