The Russian Academy of Sciences (Arkhangelsk Scientific Centre, Komi
Scientific Centre, Institute of Ecological Problems) and the Council for
Research Productive Forces of the Administration of Arkhangelsk region
have organized a conference entitled: Academic Science and Its Role in
the Development of the Productive Forces in the Northern Regions of
Russia.
The conference is dedicated to the centenary anniversary of the opening
of the first station of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the village
Ust'-Tzil'ma in Arkhangelsk Gouberny (now located in the territory of
Komi Republic).
Topics for the conference include the following:
- Role of academic science in the development of the Northern
territories from the time of Mikhail Lomonosov until present day - Development of oil and gas fields in the North: Problems and solutions
- Formation and development of diamond and noble metals resources in
northern Russia in the 21st century - Space-time interaction of endogenous and exogenous processes, deep
lithosphere and physical fields - Research of shelf seas and continental reservoirs in the North
- Social-economic development of the Northern territories: Its
conditions and perspectives - Contemporary development and problems of the forest-industry complex
- Problems of biodiversity and conditions of ecosystems in the Northern
regions - International scientific cooperation in protection of the natural and
cultural heritage in the Barents Euro-Arctic region - Medical problems and human ecology in the North
