The Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the
University of Cambridge offers a Natural Environment Research Council
(NERC) research studentship linked with the Cryosat Validation
Consortium.

The studentship forms part of the Cryosat Consortium Grant awarded by
NERC and aims to examine the way in which the statistical distribution
of sea ice thickness in the Arctic is related to the distribution of
inferred altimeter freeboards. The project has a strong modelling
component which will be validated and tested against a variety of data
sets collected in the field, including data from submarines and AUVs.

Applicants should have a good first degree in physics, mathematics, or a
geophysical subject. NERC eligibility rules will apply.
