The Alaska Earthquake Information Center (AEIC) is recruiting a Tsunami
Numerical Modeler for the Alaska Tsunami Inundation Mapping Project to
develop and apply hydrodynamic numerical models of tsunami wave
generation, propagation, and runup. The goal of this project is to map
potential inundation of Alaska coastal communities, providing local
emergency officials with site-specific tsunami hazard assessment.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in oceanography, other Earth or
physical sciences, mathematics, or engineering; strong knowledge of
ocean dynamics and numerical modeling techniques; and experience with
computational fluid dynamics, preferably in tsunami numerical modeling.

The successful candidate will be placed at a level appropriate for their
education and experience. This position is part of a career development
plan and will provide an avenue for increasing the position's scope,
complexity, and degree of independence as the incumbent's experience and
skills increase.
