The European Space Agency (ESA) is organizing a workshop entitled
"Advances in SAR Oceanography from ENVISAT and ERS Missions," which will
be held in Frascati, Italy on 24-26 January 2006. The deadline to submit
abstracts is Tuesday, 15 November 2005.
This workshop is meant to provide a forum for scientific exchange and to
assess the state-of-art in SAR coastal and marine applications
(including polar marine), and to initiate and encourage close
collaboration between individual research groups. It provides a timely
opportunity to discuss the use of SAR data over the ocean for scientific
research, applications development, and their assimilation into
meteorological models. The meeting will review and assess the maturity
and operational readiness of SAR marine and sea-ice applications.
Proposed themes include:
- Wave mode processing algorithms, product validation, and assimilation
- Ocean wind applications
- Ocean current applications
- Wave applications
- Ice applications (including ice classification, ice drift, ice
thickness, ice albedo, melt ponding etc.)
- Oil spill and ship detection
- Methodology and techniques
