The position of Data Management Specialist I is available at the
National Snow and Ice Data Center of the Cooperative Institute for
Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado
at Boulder.
This position will be responsible for operating the EOSDIS (Earth
Observing System Data and Information System) Core System (ECS) as well
as other NSIDC data systems to further the NSIDC science mission. ECS
supports data from the NASA Terra, AQUA and ICESAT spacecraft platforms.
Other systems support heritage and Pathfinder data sets, as well as data
sets from the full range of NSIDC programs and projects. Position
responsibilities are broad and variable and will include: daily ingest,
archival and distribution of data, trouble shooting system problems,
installation support and checkout of ECS custom software.
Position requirements include a Bachelor's degree, UNIX experience, and
strong detail, organization, and communication skills. Perl, Bourne
shell, C, CGI, and Earth science experience are desirable. The
successful candidate is eligible for a benefits package, 22 days annual
