The Circumpolar Young Leaders Program (CYLP) is part of the Future of
Children and Youth of the Arctic initiative. Four exciting international
internship opportunities have just been made available for people living
in, or originally from, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, and
northern Quebec and Labrador. Placements are in Norway, Finland, and
Denmark. The deadline to submit applications is Thursday, 30 June 2005.
The approximate start date is early September. A stipend will be
provided to interns to cover basic living expenses.

The Circumpolar Young Leaders Programme aims to give young people from
the North the opportunity to improve their leadership skills, gain
international experience, enhance their understanding of sustainable
development, and join a unique network of young leaders who are working
towards ensuring sustainability in the North.

To be eligible for the Circumpolar Young Leaders (CYP) program you must
meet the following criteria:
- be a resident of, or originally from, the North of Canada (Northwest
Territories, Nunavut, Yukon, and northern Quebec and Labrador); - be
between 21 and 30 years of age;
- have demonstrated interest or experience in circumpolar affairs and
issues;
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
- hold a current passport;
- be able to live and work in multicultural environments;
- be flexible and adaptable; and
- be available for up to six months.
