A workshop on Remote Sensing of the Coastal Zone will take place as part
of the 25th EARSeL Symposium in Porto, Portugal on 9-10 June 2005. The
workshop will focus on coastal zones and will discuss all methods of
remote sensing suitable for this complex environment, with an emphasis
on methods, technology, and applications. The working language at the
workshop will be English.

Workshop topics will include:
- Physical dynamics of currents, tides, waves, and sediment transport
- Morphodynamical processes and their relevance for coastal engineering
- Habitat mapping and modelling
- Flux and transformation of seawater constituents including pollutants
- Interaction of physical, biological, and chemical conditions and
processes
- GIS and coastal zone management
- Active and passive methods in all spectral ranges, sensor combinations
- Satellite, airborne and ground-based methods including ground truth
- Modelling of radiative transfer, image processing, and related aspects
- Interaction of physical, biological, and chemical conditions and
processes
