The deadline for application to the "Climate Change in the Marine Realm"
summer course has been extended to Tuesday, 10 April 2012. The course
will be held 10-24 September 2012. It will be convened in two locations,
the first week at the Wadden Sea Station in List/Sylt, and the second
week at the University of Bremen.

Students will get insight into the role of the ocean in the climate
system, and understand the complex connections and interactions within
the Earth system through examples of the marine realm. The course is
open to students from different disciplines within the natural or
engineering sciences at Master's or early PhD level. Students from
around the world are invited to apply; the course will be taught in
English.

The four main topics for instruction are as follows:

  • Marine Ecosystems and Climate Change
  • Climate Change and Coastal Seas
  • The Ocean in the Climate System
  • Observing the Ocean

Thanks to the generous funding provided by Stiftung Mercator, stipends
for 40 participants are available. The stipends will cover travel, room,
and board.
