The Biology Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) invites applications for one or more full-time, exempt, tenure track positions. The positions will be located at WHOI in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

The successful candidate will be hired at the Assistant Scientist level, with exceptional candidates considered at the levels of Associate Scientist without Tenure, Associate Scientist with Tenure, or Senior Scientist.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree, postdoctoral experience, and a record of scientific research publications in scholarly journals. Scientific staff members are expected to develop independent, externally-funded, and internationally-recognized research programs. This position will also have the option of advising graduate students and teaching courses through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and Oceanographic Engineering,

Expertise may include, but is not limited to: health assessment, stress, stranding, diving physiology, functional morphology, or disease. This successful candidate will have access to a state-of-the-art necropsy laboratory as well as the opportunity to further develop the computed tomography (CT) scanner facility. Opportunities for interdisciplinary research exist through collaborations with colleagues in the other science departments, centers, and labs as well as with researchers in the broader Woods Hole scientific community.

Applicants who conduct research in marine mammal physiology or pathophysiology are of particular interest. Candidates with expertise in other aspects of marine mammal biology are also encouraged to apply.
