The University of Stockholm invites applications for a PhD in a hydrology research. This four-year, fixed-term position has a negotiable start date of 1 January 2018 and will be located in Stockholm, Sweden.

The successful candidate will work on a research project in hydrology, focusing on hydro-climatic analysis of water-related factors that affect health, primarily in the Arctic. The project will involve developing and applying hydrological modeling and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to analyze, visualize, and quantify the climate, water, and landscape drivers that pertain to known water-mediated disease spreading pathways in the environment. The work is quantitatively focused, with the aim to improve understanding of how climate, water, and landscape changes may affect disease propagation and distribution in a changing climate.

Duties of this position will include:

  • Further develop and apply a hydrological model appropriate for studying hydro-climatic changes in Arctic and northern basins;
  • Compile, analyze, and visualize spatially distributed data pertaining to climate, water, and landscape changes; and
  • Quantitatively investigate how established water-related factors that affect health may be affected under changing hydro-climatic conditions.

Application deadline: Sunday, 5 November 2017.
