The University of Victoria invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in sea ice geophysics and SAR remote. This full-time, two-year position (one year renewable to another year subject to a performance evaluation) will be located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Prior experience in the analysis of SAR and cryospheric geophysical datasets is required, and some prior experience in microwave scattering modelling (e.g., SMRT), SAR signal processing, or machine learning is desirable, but not required. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary research project dedicated to the development of Ku- and L-band SAR to map sea ice properties, with focus on geophysical properties such as snow, surface roughness, flooded ice, and ice ridging. The candidate will have access to novel surface and airborne derived radar and geophysical property datasets and will have opportunities for field work, including funded airborne and ground validation initiatives in the Canadian Arctic in 2025 along with participants with foci spanning remote sensing, climate, and social enterprise domains. The candidate will also have opportunities to participate in the development of NASA-ISRO (NISAR) mission data, as well as initiatives related to the development of future Ku-band SAR missions.
