Seattle , Washington 98195United StatesBioGeorge Hunt received his AB and PhD from Harvard University, after which he joined the faculty of the University of California, Irvine. There he taught for 35 years, presenting courses on the Diversity of Life, Behavioral Ecology, Field Ornithology and Ocean Ecology, among others. In 2004, he joined the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences as a Research Professor. His research has spanned field work on ants, behavioral ecology of breeding seabirds, the foraging ecology of seabirds and the oceanographic processes that facilitate seabird foraging. More recently, his focus has been on how climate variability affects the food webs of the southeastern Bering Sea. He has participated in four expeditions to the Southern Ocean, three to the Atlantic Arctic, and more than he can remember to the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the American Ornithologists Union.

Science Specialties

Current Research

Retrospective studies of 40 year data set on marine birds in the eastern Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands. Impacts of climate variability on energy flow and fish recruitment in the southeastern Bering Sea.
