Started to study small mammals at the age of 14 in 1964 and that is still going on.
Long-term rodent research in Finnish Lapland since 1970
Fulbright Scholar at the Institute of Arctic Biology, Fairbanks, AK, 1983-84, and later studies in AK
Rodent scientist at the Finnish Forest Research Institute (present Natural Resources Institute Finland) 1988-2000, and professor of forest zoology 2000 -
