Matthew Druckenmiller

His areas of interest include coastal sea ice dynamics, collaborating with Indigenous experts, and informing coastal environmental observing strategies. He coordinates the Study of Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH) Sea Ice Action Team and serves as a research lead for the Exchange for Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic (ELOKA) program. Druckenmiller earned his PhD in geophysics from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. With long-held interests in science policy, he has served as a Science Policy Fellow at the National Academies’ Polar Research Board, a project manager at the Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S., and a AAAS Science Policy Fellow at the U.S. Agency for International Development. Druckenmiller is originally from Trout Run, Pennsylvania.
