Bio

Kim works as an associate professor at the Department of Marine Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She is affiliated with the Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS), a member of the ISSC specialist committee on Ocean Space Utilization, the IICWG Task Team Uncertainty, and the SIOS Remote Sensing working group. She is a key researcher in the new RCN project DIGITALSEAICE and leading the development of an AI-infused system for finding and identifying sea ice features from optical images (ASK KNUT) and the AIDing Arctic initiative https://www.ntnu.edu/imt/aidingarctic

My current research interests include learning from the past ocean data and solving limitations of new technologies (artificial intelligence, augmented intelligence, transfer learning, etc.) using the northernmost regions as a testbed.
